Leverett House takes 2007-2008 Green Skillet

It was a fight to the end, but in the end, Leverett House took home the 2007 Green Skillet, crushing any dreams Quincy House had of being a two-time champion.

With a reduction in electricity use of just over 20% and a reduction in natural gas use by nearly 12% Leverett House set the conservation bar high. Add to that special projects like launching a tray-less dining pilot and a spring cleaning of the mug tree, and the result was too much for the competition!

Leverett had some help with the installation of a Thermastor, which uses waste heat from refrigerators to heat water, but everyone played a role in the success. "Our front of house staff was turning off unnecessary equipment and lights, the dish room crew focused on reducing running water and the cooks did their part in reducing energy consumption. The students of the house were also involved," touted Leverett GM Arthur Robbins.

So who will win the 2008-2009 Green Skillet? Keep conserving and find out!
