I am involved in research in the fields of nanotechnology and medicinal chemistry. My current project explores new methods to screen small molecule drugs for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as malaria.

Growing up in the environmentally friendly town of Davis, California gave me an early understanding and concern for resource preservation. I have been involved in research since high school and, during that time, I have become increasingly sensitive to energy use and chemical waste generated in labs.

I joined the FAS Lab Rep team because it is my belief that scientists genuinely care about what sort of impact their research has on the environment. Unfortunately, how to go about research in an environmentally friendly manner in the setting of a scientific laboratory is not always clear. I have found it incredibly rewarding to work on raising awareness about these issues through our program and am looking forward to another great year!
