Sustainability at Harvard

I work in a geochemistry lab, running samples on the ICPMS [mass spectrometer]. For my thesis, I'm looking at trace elements in igneous rocks from all around the world. I've seen the lab rep program in action and think it's an awesome opportunity to work on spreading sustainability across campus in a niche that has great potential for making substantial improvements in a visible way that further encourages a greener campus.

Can undergrads make a real impact in lab sustainability? I think undergrads, none of whom ever sleep, have the energy and resources to work together and effect a real change. The undergrad community represents far reaching corners on campus: its members not only have access to a wide-ranging network but as a result also bring a diverse range of ideas to the table. Fun fact about me? I once fell into a crevasse in Alaska, while doing field work.
