Harvard Sustainability Pledge
"Taken together, the habits, the attitudes, and the creativity of every one of us have the potential to make a great difference, not just for Harvard in the here and now, but for the larger world and its future well-being... What is at stake is nothing less than a change in the culture of how we work and live."
- President Drew G. Faust, July 2008, Harvard Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goal announcement

My Greenhouse Gas Commitment
We all add up! Take Harvard's Sustainability Pledge every year and commit to reducing your personal impact on the environment. Help our University meet our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goal.
Our Impacts Add Up!
If every Harvard student, faculty and staff switched just one 75 watt incandescent bulb to a 20 watt compact fluorescent light, we would save up to $330,000 in annual utility bills and 2 million lbs of CO2.*
If every student, faculty and staff member ran their computer 24/7 for a year without sleep mode or powering off, it would result in 16.3 million lbs of CO2 emissions - using sleep mode during the day and powering off at night can save up to $1.3 million in utility bills and over 8 million lbs of CO2.*
